Jennifer Howard has worked in the community and government to advance social justice and equality for the last 25 years.
She started her activism in the students’ movement and began her career working for non-profits dedicated to women’s health and equality.
Elected to the Manitoba Legislature in 2007, Jennifer held a number of Cabinet positions in portfolios such as Labour and Immigration; Family Services; Finance; Status of Women and Persons with Disabilities.
She is most proud of her contributions to stronger workplace health and safety laws; Canada’s first legislated domestic violence employment leave and bringing in the Accessibility for Manitobans Act – ensuring the removal of barriers for people with disabilities.
Jennifer did not run in the 2016 Manitoba election. She is currently the Executive Director for the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and lives in Ottawa.
Jennifer is married to Tara. They are the mothers of two young children – Harry and Georgia.
